During her heyday in the 80s, the singer was one of the few famous artists who went by only one name. However, she was born with a last name, and it’s Darwish. She went from earning just $235 from her first concert to raking in millions in 1987 after the release of her debut album and a cover version of “I Think We’re Alone Now.” The single topped the charts, paving the way for her other singles, such as “Could’ve Been” and “I Saw Him Standing There,” to make their way to the top of the heap as well. However, her second album, and subsequent record releases, did not achieve a similar level of success, casting a shadow on her career. She later posed for magazines and appeared in reality TV shows, with the last one being in 2014 on “Celebrity Cook-Off.”
