Before Ralph Macchio became the “Karate Kid,” he worked as a child actor in commercials. He later transitioned to film, co-starring with some of today’s biggest stars – Tom Cruise, Matt Dillon – on “The Outsiders.” Then, in 1984, he landed the biggest role in his life and became recognized internationally as the boy who triumphed over bigger foes through martial arts (on the silver screen, that is). However, later film projects never could top or equal his “Karate Kid” success. These days, the 61-year-old actor still appears on TV shows every now and then. He has made guest appearances on “How I Met Your Mother,” “Ugly Betty,” and “Dancing with the Stars.”
