She appeared on “Diff’rent Strokes” and “The Facts of Life,” among others. She also co-starred with Sarah Jessica Parker on “Square Pegs” in 1982. Although the show only had a short stint on air, it helped boost Gertz’s profile. She went on to appear in films like “The Lost Boys” and “Sixteen Candles.” After turning down the Rachel role on “Friends,” she started a career as a designer in Paris. She returned to the silver screen in 1996 with “Twister” and appeared on legal sitcom “Ally McBeal.” The 54-year-old actress continues to be in circulation in the industry, although her last project was ABC’s “The Neighbors.”
