4 Ways to Motivate Your Employee To Increase Their Productivity
One of the core parts to keep our business running is through our employees. Employees are the lifeblood of a company. Without them, our businesses would cease to function. That’s why, as a sign of our eternal gratitude for their hard work and dedication, it’s important for business owners to recognize their employees’ efforts by giving out the right incentives.
Such benefits not only please employees, but will also motivate and inspire them to give their best to the tasks and projects assigned to them. This, in turn, will increase their productivity as well as the overall business operations.
How do we encourage our employees to stay productive? Here are our top creative ways to motivate them in increasing their employee productivity.
1. Give them Awards and Incentives Without Cash
Whenever we think of rewarding our employees, the first thing that comes to our mind is to increase their paycheck. While this is a good move to motivate your employees because let’s face it, who doesn’t need more money, you shouldn’t limit yourself. There are far, better ways to reward your employees.
Instead of giving out money, why don’t you give your employee their mandatory leave and give them a travel package? You could conduct an out-of-town team building expedition to help them ease the tension away and have some fun. If you’re concerned about their health, you can give them health insurance. Or maybe, hand over grocery packages to help them save some money instead of buying their necessities. These benefits are more helpful and could be great alternatives to giving out cash.
2. Recognize their Efforts Through a “Best Employee of the Month” Award
It’s important for you, as an employer, to recognize your employees’ hard work. Just a small Thank you or a Job Well Done will lift their spirits up and motivate them to work harder for you. So start recognizing their dedication, so that they can feel that they are special. Let them feel that they truly belong to this organization and that their role, opinions, and inputs are important to the overall success of your business.
3. Give Them Some Authority to Decide Over Things
Although they are just employees, don’t hold that much power over crucial decisions in your business. Allow them to have some say over trivial things, especially if they’re in charge of projects. One of the best ways to empower your employees is by giving them the freedom to have a say and make decisions. You need to give them the affirmation that they know what they’re doing. This will ultimately help boost the company’s productivity.
The little power they have will boost their decision-making process as well as analytic skills. They are also more relaxed to work on the projects according to their pace. After all, nobody wants to consult every single thing to someone all the time, right? Your employee is the best at what they do, so give them the liberty to demonstrate their field of expertise by showing it through their work performance and productivity.
4. Allow Employee Growth
Let’s face it, no one wants a dead-end job, even if they love what they’re doing. If they keep doing the same thing over and over again for 10, 20 years, where it will lead them? Eventually, they’ll be bored to death. So allow them to have some growth. You can do that by providing the necessary materials, training, and workshops to help them improve their skills. This will allow them to grow as they climb their career ladder. Give out opportunities that will help them improve in a personal and professional field. And if you do, it will enhance your company’s reputation as being the best place to work and grow.
Always remember that happy, loyal, employees are productive co-workers. So if you start feeling like your company is going down, there might be something wrong with the way you manage your own employees.
