The Best Winter Remedies For Your Hair
Most people enjoy winter. It is so magical, with the snowflakes, holidays and warm-up with friends and family beside the fire. We often forget about how our hair actually looks like in winter, since it is mostly under the layers of hats and shawls. Still, the cold weather and the wind can damage it and we don’t even have to see it. Additionally, if you treat your hair with press or hairdryer (which can’t be avoided in the wintertime) it can become damaged even more.
In winter, hair needs the same warm up that we do. Cold air affects the hair follicle and it becomes dry and can crack. The good news is that this can be prevented with the little help from our kitchen! Here are the six remedies for healing your hair at home.
Olive Oil
This is an absolute MUST in every kitchen, and it is amazingly healing for your hair for various reasons: it is rich in nutrients and it will warm up and feed your hair. Your hair will become healthier, shinier and stronger. It is good to combine it with lemon, eggs, or even add a teaspoon into your shampoo dosage. For the best results, leave the mask to do its task overnight. Of course, don’t forget to rinse it well with shampoo after finishing!
Mayonnaise
Yes, exactly that mayonnaise you eat. Just put it on your hair, but not too much. It is rich with oil and egg yolks which make it the perfect cure for undernourished hair. Leave it on your head for an hour or two and then rinse it with a shampoo. It will be shiny and lovely, trust me!
Coconut oil
It is the second best solution for your hair, apart from the olive oil. It is highly rich in antioxidants and has antibacterial and antifungal properties. It is less greasy, though, and will be easier to wash out. It smells amazing and will give your hair and scalp what they need in winter. You can just melt it with a little honey, or put in some lemon juice, shampoo, and use it as ordinary shampoo. If you have greasy hair, use it only at your hair ends.
Honey
This is one of the best hair remedies ever. It will help you with whatever your hair problem is! You can use it if your hair is greasy or dry, with dandruff problems or similar. It deeply nourishes the hair and gives it a silky look. You can open the shampoo package and load it with two or three spoons of honey and mix. Then use it as usual. For a honey mask, mix honey with desired oil or even with a squashed banana. Leave it for about an hour and rinse it with lukewarm water.
Eggs
Yes, raw eggs. They contain a lot of proteins and that way rebuilding damaged hair. You can use them in various ways. The best way is to separate two or three egg yolks and then put it on your hair as a mask. You can mix it with olive and coconut oil, honey, even with your hair conditioner, so you will get perfect results. It will enrich your hair and make it silky because proteins flatten the hair follicles and that way it will be less damaged.
Lemon Juice
It is rich in vitamins, minerals, calcium and magnesium. it provides numerous health benefits. There are many ways for you to use it on your hair. It helps you fight dandruff and greasy hair, although it can be used on normal hair, too. It will result in fresh and clean hair since it cleans away dust and dead cells from hair and scalp. The juice can be directly squeezed on hair and then washed out; it can be repeated two times a week. You can also pour it in the water and use as a last rinse. In the end, it can be combined with many ingredients as olive oil, honey, castor, coconut and camphor oil. It can also be combined with coconut water and applied as a mask. After mixing ¼ cup of coconut water with 1 tbsp. lemon juice it can be applied to the hair. The mask should be rinsed after 20 minutes up to an hour. It will nourish and freshen the hair perfectly!
