Where Are These Child Horror Actors Today?

When you were a child, your parents probably didn’t want you to watch horror movies. Nonetheless, but imagine how the child actors who starred in those movies felt when they probably couldn’t watch them themselves act until they grew up. Well, those same child actors from those iconic movies are all grown up now. If you’re a fan of the horror movie genre, you’ve probably seen all of these movies and have loved the characters these child actors played. As such, let’s take a look at what they’re doing with their lives today. Some are still acting while others never wanted to participate in a movie again.

I like horror movies, and in fact, I like them even more now after making one. I just think they’re much more liberating because you don’t really have to apply a very strict logic.

Gore Verbinski

Who is who? Let’s check.

Alex Vincent – played Andy Barclay in Child’s Play (1988)

Alex, who is 36 this year and starred as Andy Barclay in the Child’s Play franchise when he was only five years old, has appeared in the two newest Chucky movies. He also had a couple of small roles in a few movies, but what makes this actor so impressive aren’t his movie appearances.

He has a degree in sound engineering, is passionate about photography, writes poems and plays the keyboard, and is also a screenwriter. For sure, Alex has come a long way since his Child’s Play days.

Harvey Stephens – played Damien in The Omen (1976)

This former actor, aged 46, was only four years old when he was picked for the part of Damien. Since he was so young, the director provoked him behind the cameras to get genuine reactions from him. This is why the scenes in The Omen with him seem so realistic. He also appeared in the 2006 version of the Omen as a tabloid hack. Other than that, he had very few acting credits. Since then, he’s turned his back on acting, and after working as a property developer for some time, he is now running a chauffeur business based in London.

Danny Lloyd – played Danny Torrance in The Shining (1980)

This is another child actor who has gotten out of the business. Danny, aged 44 now, has only had one other appearance after The Shining. He got the role of Danny in The Shining because he was the only child actor who could maintain concentration for longer periods of time.

Since the actor was only six years old during filming, they managed to film all of his scenes without him realizing he was in a horror movie. After getting out of acting, he became a pig farmer for a while, then professor of biology at a community college in Kentucky. Today, he teaches in Missouri.

Louise and Lisa Burns – played The Grady Twins in The Shining (1980)

The other two child actors from The Shining, these two twins are probably what you picture when someone mentions creepy children. The way they starred, stood, and talked was memorable. However, after their roles in The Shining, neither of them worked in acting again. While Lisa went on to study literature, Louise became a microbiologist.

Daveigh Chase – played Samara in The Ring (2002)

One of the younger actors on our list, Daveigh, aged 27, is truly an amazing artist with a lot of roles under her belt. She probably made you fear your TV for a while after watching her in The Ring. She is also known for playing Samantha Darko in Donnie Darko only one year prior to The Ring and has reprised the role in the movie’s sequel, S. Darko seven years after the original.

Daveigh has done some less dark things as well — she voiced Lilo in Lilo & Stich and various other movies and TV shows. Her latest appearance has been in the 2016 movie, American Romance.

Linda Blair – played Regan MacNeill in The Exorcist (1973)

Linda, now aged 58, was selected from 600 girls for the role of Regan from The Exorcist when she was only 14, and even reprised her role in the sequel four years later. She even won a Golden Globe for her part, but unfortunately, she also had some law and narcotics charges. After that, her career plummeted.

In the 1980s, Linda managed to land roles in low budget horror movies. She appeared in the 1996 film Scream and in 1997, she took part in the Broadway revival of Grease.

Linda even started her own charity for abused and neglected animals.
