Up to 70% of human body is made up of water. Without proper hydration, the blood would be unable to transport all the nutrients and vitamins the body needs. A nutrient imbalance would result in a body malfunction, leading to sluggishness, irritability, and tiredness. How can you tell that you are dehydrated? Here are the warning signs that you are dehydrated. If you notice them, drink clean water immediately. We advise you to never take these symptoms for granted because dehydration is a serious issue.

When you fail to drink adequate water, your intestines become, making it difficult for food to pass through.

Are you having frequent headaches? Ask yourself whether your water intake is adequate. A headache is the number one effect of dehydration. Remember that the human brain is mostly made of water. When there is not enough water, the protective layer around your brain begins to evaporate causing your brain to shrink. An abrupt change in your brain size can be very painful and agonizing. This triggers terrible headaches, leaving you with excruciating pain. So if you have a headache, try to drink plenty of water first to rehydrate yourself.

Here are a few tips:

  • Drink two glasses of water right after you get up. Starting your day with this will not only make you feel refreshed but also helps with your digestion.
  • Buy a personal water bottle and carry it with you wherever you go. Make sure to buy one that will actually be comfortable for you to use and take it with you.
  • Consume water-based foods. Examples are cucumbers, grapefruits, and, of course, watermelon.
  • Download a water consumption tracking app. There are plenty of these on the market. Just take your pick.

A lot of people think that they can only get dehydrated during the hot and dry season. However, that’s not the case. Just because you are not sweating does not mean that you’re hydrated. In fact, dry and cool climate such as Fall and Winter season can trigger dehydration. Higgins says that symptoms may be milder or come on slower, but it’s still possible to be dehydrated or suffer from heat illness in cooler weather.
