Unleash Your Creative Intelligence Through These Witty Tests!
Everyone has an innate unique talent and creativity. If you think that you don’t, you do, only that it is waiting to be unleashed. Despite many people’s desire to be creative, they experience some mishaps that hinder them from moving forward. This is what is called a creative block. A creative block occurs when you don’t have any idea on how to move forward with your endeavor. It could be disastrous as it may stall your progress. However, we have compiled a list of the witty ways and tests through which you can unleash your creative intelligence.
Reverse Thinking
Sometimes, you run out of ideas because of thinking the normal way. If you find yourself at a loss, just try to think outside the box. Thinking in a reverse order could open up vast possibilities for you to explore. Who knows? This might undo the creative block for you.
Example:
- Typical Approach: How can I double my fan base?
- Reverse Thinking: How do I make sure I have no fans at all?
Looks like this:
Test it: Think of a problem you would like to solve. Now think of the reverse of that idea and write it down. Do you see anything interesting?
WKOPAY
If you’re still not sure about where your best skills and abilities lie, you should take WKOPAY (What Kind of Person Are You) test. It enables you to measure your inquisitiveness, self-confidence, and imagination. This creativity test is a self-assessment for creative intelligence. You can take this self-assessment test at BuzzFeed. After taking the test, they’ll give you some recommendation on what areas you should explore. This will give you a general idea of what skills to focus on and improve. And who knows? You might discover other talents where you will excel the most.
Anagram
Sometimes it is downright boring and plain if you just give clues on plain sight. Start discovering the world of codes, pseudonyms, and anagrams to spice up your current projects. There is a thrill in knowing that you can generate new words and codes from existing words or even your name.
How it works: Simply rearrange the letters of a word or phrase. For example, change Lifehack to hack file.
Example: Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland author Lewis Carroll famously used anagrams. Carroll’s real name was actually Charles Lutwidge Dodgson. In developing the pseudonym Lewis Carroll, Dodgson began by translating Charles Lutwidge into Latin – Carolus Ludovicus. He then reversed the order of the Latin translation and translated the back to English to arrive at Lewis Carroll.
Storyboarding
If you are stuck in your current plot or twists, or if you don’t’ even know how your story will end, storyboarding will surely break your writer’s block. A storyboard is a set of illustrations that give a quick summary of what your book should be. Here are the steps on how to create an interactive storyboard:
- Step 1: Choose the problem.
- Step 2: Take notes.
- Step 3: Mind map.
- Step 4: Crazy Eights.
- Step 5: Storyboard.
- Step 6: A Silent critique.
- Step 7: 3-minute critiques.
- Step 8: Supervote.
Riddles
Riddles are another interactive way to solve a puzzle that is shrouded in mystery. It also applies the logic of reverse thinking as you need to think of an answer first before brainstorming a riddle around your answer. Riddles can challenge your mind to think outside the box and go beyond the simple wording. It can also be a metaphor or personification. They also help you to improve your analytical skills and deductive reasoning. Here are the steps on how to create riddles.
- Step 1: Choose an answer.
- Step 2: Brainstorm your answer.
- Step 3: Use a thesaurus.
- Step 4: Think of the object.
- Step 5: Use figurative language.
Example:
- Riddle: Imagine you are in a dark room. How do you get out?
- Answer: Stop imagining it.
