Tips on How To Eliminate Stressful Situations and Enjoy Your Vacation

We all enjoy traveling—and we even count the days left to the next holiday. There is no better feeling than to leave home and go on a vacation. Whether it is a mountain or a beach, it is important that you feel relaxed and relieved, and that nothing is on your way.

It is interesting to mention that one study from 2010 found that trip planning can actually make you even happier than being on an actual trip and enjoying with your family and friends. Therefore, you should learn to use your vacation days in the best way so that no stressful and unpredictable situations spoil it.

Here are six tips to use your next trip in the best possible way.

Happiness before the trip

As we mentioned before, tho sole trip planning itself actually triggers a kind of joy. This feeling can occur even weeks or months before the trip itself takes place and have an excellent effect on your health and mindset. Trip planning gives you relaxation and optimism, thus triggering a pleasure center in our brains.

Even imagining that you will be relieved of stress, depression, and anxiety gives you a great feeling! Optimism is always a good thing that provides you with good thoughts and even improves your immunity!

Increase the benefits of the trip itself

Think about all the possible trip solutions. First, try not to think about your budget or distance that limit you; endorphins in your brain will be released only if you focus on the good things. In this case, dreaming without limits will help you understand what to expect from the trip itself. For example, you will know whether you want to rest, play, or have new amazing experiences. Then, review all the options that will meet your desires fully, for example, budget or the distance that best suits you. When you find the best possible solution, you will feel amazing!

Take it easy

Some people don’t like to leave their homes or just become nervous when they go on a trip. If you know that you are going with that type of person, try to avoid any conflict along the way (as well as on the vacation itself). One Dutch study says that interpersonal conflicts, health problems, and culture shock may have a negative impact on the whole vacation. When you approach the potential conflict, try not to attack the other person involved. Try to speak starting with “I” instead of “You,” which will come to you as more natural and relieving. For example, instead of “You are exhausting me,” say “I feel very tired”.

Communication

This is an essential component of every vacation spent with a partner. Don’t assume his/her way of thinking, but induce a healthy communication instead. Most people try to read their partners’ minds and then start a conflict, which shouldn’t ever take place. Also, don’t forget to focus on the holiday itself. You should smile and try to be relieved as much as possible in order to be where you really are—in a peaceful place enjoying your life.

Compromise

If a conflict still arises, it won’t be so bad either if you know how to handle it. It is important to know what you really want and share your thoughts with your partner. The first thing you should do afterward is to listen to your partner—don’t think about other things or assume his/her thoughts. Secondly, think about their wishes and try to fit them in with yours. Thirdly, negotiate and look for compromise. The perfect solution is there somewhere; you just need to try and find it together! Don’t focus on your differences, but on the things you have in common. This will strengthen your relationship and improve your overall communication.

Try to use your time the best way you can

This greatly depends on your possibilities and on the people you travel with. If you are with your family, try to do things together—visit museums, walk, eat, and talk. However, don’t forget to give yourself some time alone. It doesn’t have to be a whole day, but rather a few hours to spend the way you want to. Of course, this is true about your partner too. Try to encourage him/her to have a little time alone or make him/her a surprise! Wellness, spa, sports—anything will have a great effect! If you have kids, take care of them at least when your partner needs rest, or just wants to relax outside. Don’t worry; you will get the same treatment from him/her, too!
