‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Star Ellen Pompeo Just Sold Her Hamptons Retreat–See Inside Her Charming Former Farmhouse-Style Abode

It looks like playing a doctor on a hit television show can be a more lucrative gig than being an actual medical professional. This is certainly true in the case of actress Ellen Pompeo, who’s most notable for portraying Dr. Meredith Grey in the ABC medical drama series ‘Grey’s Anatomy’. After getting to enjoy and spending serious money on a modern farmhouse home in the Hamptons, the 50-year-old has sold it for $2.99 million before ringing in the new year.

Farmhouse Retreat

The home’s exteriors have a rustic gray-blue hue and a simple design almost giving it a utilitarian vibe

While the amount she got for the 2,400 square feet retreat is certainly more than what she initially paid for the property, it is significantly less than the initial $3.79 million asking price she put it in the market for after listing it in 2017. For context, Pompeo acquired the home in 2011 for less than a million dollars.

On the other hand, this transaction may be a win for the property’s new resident who’ll get to enjoy its excellent location in the Hamptons village of Sag Harbor, which is one of New Yorkers’ primes spots for escaping the Big Apple in the hot summers.

The three-story house stands on eight acres of land and has plenty of room to host vacationers with its five bedrooms and four bathrooms. Of course, its style doesn’t disappoint as well. Although the home may appear unwelcoming from the outside, it boasts of homey yet sleek interiors complete with glass windows, hardwood floors, and marble accents. The gray-blue color scheme found in its exteriors also extends inside.

Marble accents also found their way into the kitchen, which is decorated with white wood cabinetry as well as marble countertops. These design elements are complemented by a color combination of both white and off-white hues.

Another notable feature of the home is that it has two master suites found on the first and second floors, respectively. Both suites particularly have their own private living room within and the second one even comes with an office.

Original Plans

Out back is a swimming pool surrounded by a lush lawn and plenty of areas to lounge and relax

Back in 2017, Pompeo shared that she originally intended to raze the cabin and turn in into a guest house. However, she and her husband had a change of heart after knowing some history behind the property. Apparently, the cabin was originally built by a woman who worked as a civil rights lawyer.

She reportedly literally built it with her own hands. Likewise, Pompeo was hands-on when it came to designing and building the now-farmhouse in 2013 after she was advised to build on the cabin’s footprint.
