Failure Before Success — True Stories Of Individuals
Most successful people had to struggle hard before achieving success. They only intended to succeed in their objective without realizing they would also become famous for all eternity. Most importantly, they had to endure failure before success. Their determination made them stand apart from the rest, and it still does to this day. Today, we will give you information about some successful people who had to toil before making it in life.
“There is scarcely any passion without struggle.” — Albert Camus
How Did These Individuals Beat Failure Before Success?
Walt Disney
A newspaper sacked Walt Disney for not displaying enough creativity. He also lost the rights to his first character “Oswald the Lucky rabbit” which drove his first business into bankruptcy. Walt Disney considered doing a full-length animated movie, which was not considered as a good idea during those times.
He mortgaged his house for the finances he needed to complete Snow White And the Seven Dwarfs because he was short of funds. The movie was highly praised by its critics when it was released. It had collections of $8 million, making the most successful film with audio during those times.
Mary Kay Ash
Mary Kay decided to resign from the company she had worked for 25 years because they were unwilling to accept her ideas. She chose a writing career after her resignation in order to assist women in business. The book turned into a resounding success and a perfect business plan. This enabled Mary Kay to establish a world-renowned cosmetic company that bears her name.
Thomas Alva Edison
If self-confidence and perseverance are important, Edison is perhaps the best example of this fact. He kept attempting to invent commercially-viable electric bulbs but failed numerous times. However, he considered failure as another step in the road to success. He continually claimed that he had not failed but had found 9999 ways that did not work. Eventually, Edison succeeded in producing a bulb that could glow for over 1500 hrs.
Steve Jobs
Steve Jobs was sacked from the company he had created with his friends in 1985. The reason for his dismissal was that they considered him an uncontrollable individual with unviable projects. He was, however, re-invited to Apple, which was on the verge of bankruptcy. It was only after his return that Apple became a successful company.
Milton Hershey
From a very young age, Milton Hershey worked at a candy factory. He opened his first candy shop in 1876 when he was just 18 years old. However, he found himself unsuccessful. Milton thereafter decided to work in another candy store from where he learned a lot more than he already knew. In 1883, Milton established the candy shop, which became a success within a short time. A decade later, he decided to sell his business to begin the now-famous Hershey Chocolate Company.
Stephen King
The American author started his career with a novel that was rejected 30 times. Therefore, he decided to discard the manuscript into the garbage. Luckily, his wife who pulled the novel from the garbage and persuaded Stephen to finish the book. Ultimately, Carrie was accepted by a publishing house. Stephen King has sold more than 350 million copies. Some of his books have even been converted into movies.
Soichiro Honda
Honda, who was born in 1906, spent his early days helping his father in their bicycle shop. He built his first race car at the age of 18. Honda began his own repair business when he was 22. Later, he established the company “Tokai Seiki” which was bombed during World War II. Honda did not restore the factory but chose to spend a year manufacturing alcohol in his garden, He then decided to make use of a radio generator to power up his wife’s bicycle. A couple of years later, Honda began producing a complete motorized bicycle called THE A-type which was the first invention of the Honda motor company.
Each of these people had to deal with failure before success. However, they succeeded with immense determination, which has presently put them within the annals of the immemorial.
