Others are unhealthy such as not exercising, eating unhealthy foods, living a sedentary lifestyle, and not sleeping. Some habits are lethal, say drug addiction.

Yes. Drug addiction is an incredibly dangerous habit. Addiction is really easy to fall into, but the hardest to quit. Here are the painful truths that you need to know more about addiction.

Before you decide whether your addiction is good for you or not, know these points first-hand.

There is a common notion that only the addict is the one who suffers suffer addiction’s dreadful effects. Wrong! It also affects one’s family and the society at large. For one, people who fall into addiction suffer strained relationships with their family members, friends, and the society in general. Their immediate family suffers from shame and embarrassment.

If you are an addict, most of your friends would probably avoid you. They know that when you’re high, you’re not the one in control and are capable of doing anything. And that alone is dangerous. Before you decide to fall into addiction, ask yourself if you are willing to sacrifice yourself and your relationship with the people you love.

Addiction becomes Your False Hope

If there’s one certain thing about addiction, it is its ability to make you believe that there is hope in what you are doing. An example is an addiction to lottery or gambling. Sometimes we can’t help but try our luck, hoping to hit the jackpot and become rich.  Sure, some people are lucky enough to win the jackpot and become instant millionaires. But that’s just it. It’s pure luck. A fluke. Some people are so obsessed with the idea of being “lucky” that they put their lives on the line.

Gambling addicts end up spending tons of money while their families are lacking. Avoid such an addiction at all costs. Remember that life is not out of pure luck. If you want to become rich and have a stable life, you need to work hard to earn it.

Developing a Guilty Pleasure

Everyone knows that addiction is harmful in many ways. However, humans are stubborn creatures. They constantly justify their actions even if they are wrong, just to prove we’re correct. For example, we know that smoking is harmful to one’s health. Smokers will argue, “But what about smoking vipers? They are less harmful as ty contain very little nicotine.” Therefore, they cling to the idea they can still smoke to their heart’s content without suffering any ill-effects. However, in reality, they know that smoking (in any form) is dangerous to human health.

Rehabilitation is expensive

Let’s face it. Rehabilitation is a long, tedious, and most of all, expensive process. Rehab drugs cost around $18,000 to $35,000 a month. Nicotine treatment centers charge an average of $3,000 to $7,000 for a seven-day program. For alcohol addicts, be ready to spend around $2,500 to $10,000 flat fee. Do you really want to spend such a hefty amount of money just for this? It’s not worth it.
